The gummimakk is said to have originated from Norway where cod fishermen learnt that by bending the shank of their tube covered Kirby hooks they could increase their catches. When the Gummimakk is pulled through the water, the bent hook shank and cut tail cause the lure to rotate and ‘wriggle’.

The Gummimakk ‘eel’ is very effective at catching Pollack, Cod and Coalfish but will also catch Mackerel, Bass, Ling or any other predatory fish in the vicinity.

Gummimakk lures are virtually indestructible. Traditionally they are made with PVC tube which is tough, but is stiff and often dull in colour.
These Gummimakk are made using a modern silicone compound that is just as tough, but far more soft and supple and with a glossy finish, improving the action and catch efficiency of the lure. Gummimakk lures are still the first choice for commercial hook and line fishermen who require hardwearing, robust lures that effectively catch fish.
